Hi there!

On Tuesday, Monique, Marco Orlando and I traveled to Biddeford Maine to be part of a panel discussion at the University of New England.  It was my first time going there and it was fun to see a lot of university students.  We met Eric McVay there.  This panel was part of the Maine Lend program.  We told them about what we do in our lives & also for me I talked about what I do for work.  We shared our lived experience and what it is like to live with a disability, the barriers we face and what that entails.  The people that attended got to ask us questions.  The host asked us questions as well.

We got to see some parts of the campus when we had dinner on the campus.   The University students seemed interested in understanding self-advocacy.  One individual came up and spoke with me after and she was very interested in learning more about self-advocacy and how she can teach it to others.   I talked to some of the students, and they said they liked what we had to say on our panel. We told the university students about the words Nothing About Us Without Us and we kept saying don’t forget that.

We also shared that we do a lot of legislative advocacy and how we participate in that.
