May is almost here and what comes with May but spring. The month of May is associated with Mother’s Day, but there is a forgotten tradition called May Day.

What is May Day you ask?
May Day is a public holiday usually celebrated on 1 May. It is an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival and a traditional spring holiday in many cultures. Dances, singing, and cake are usually part of the festivities.

An activity that you can do to celebrate May Day is make a May Day basket and place on your neighbor’s door.

Gather the Materials.

Colored paper
Tape or glue
Ribbon
Items to decorate basket with (stickers, cut outs of flowers, etc_

Roll the Paper Into a Cone Shape.

Secure the Cone with tape or glue

Tape the Lace Doily on the Cone or other decorations.

Add a Ribbon Handle

Make a Bunch of May Baskets in Different Colors.

Ideas for items to put in the basket:
Flowers, candy, a card, note, candy
