My Journey to Guardianship by Rose

Hi. I’m Rose. I am working on being my own guardianship. This is how and what I had to get my own guardianship.

I started by talking to my guardians. I am glad that my guardians agree that I am ready. We then talked to a lawyer. We had to do some paperwork. The lawyer’s name is Lauren Wille. I also had to print out paperwork that Lauren emailed me.

One of the papers I had to fill out was so that the fees for the court would not cost me or my guardians to pay. (I opted out to filling out because the court could look at my guardian’s income and me.  So, I am paying out of my pocket.)

I had an appointed visitor come to interview me. This gentleman was Calvin Hall. I talked to him for about 20 minutes. We talked about how I am doing with my apartment, my job history, what schools I went to, and what I hope to do in my future.

Now I am just waiting for the 1st of November. That is the day of my court appointment to see the judge about weather or not I will be my own guardian. Then I’m hoping to take my guardians off my official accounts, and my lease of my apartment.  I’m not doing this out of disrespect but out of responsibility.

If you have any questions about getting guardianship, please let me know and I will try to answer as many of your questions as I can.
