Greetings Self-Advocates!   It is legislative season!   With that our Statewide Legislative meetings start this Tuesday January 16th at 1:00 pm.   These legislative meetings are a great way to learn about what is going on with bills at the statehouse.   Even if you aren’t sure that you want to testify at a hearing, coming to the legislative meetings is a great way to learn about the legislative process.
We have opportunities to testify at hearings and we work together to get prepared for that.

SUFU has different tools and opportunities for self-advocates to use to be prepared for testifying.  Whether it is getting support in writing your testimony, or practicing with someone else to read it, or having someone help submit it electronically.

There are a number of bills that we will be following this year.   We also learn about what the difference is between an LR number and LD number, who is the sponsor of a bill, and what committees’ bills are referred to.

I hope you will join us starting on Tuesday January 16th at 1:00 pm as we get started on our legislative meetings!

SUFU Legislative meetings are open to any self-advocate. You can join us on zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/911978966
