I will be attending the SUFU Conference event facilitated by SUFU. It’s going to be on September 23-24, at the Bangor Grande. This is the yearly conference. You will meet Self-Advocates at the SUFU Conference. You get to talk about the workshops you go to and how you like it. Also, many of our allies are there. When you arrive, I help point people and Self-Advocates in the right direction to where the check in table is so they can get their swag bag. The swag bag has a folder with the schedule in it. Each year there is a new SUFU t-shirt in the bag, along with a pen, and other items that SUFU staff have picked out for us. SUFU staff does great picking out items for us.
There may be stories from self-advocates about the conference or something they have accomplished. It’s great to hear those from others.
Every year awards are given out and it’s great to celebrate what people have done.
The dance at the SUFU Conference is a lot of fun. The staff at the hotel are nice. If you need help with anything, just ask! They are very nice and helpful.
The other important thing we do is vote for board members at the conference.
