Mary Ann Swank
Maryann Swank moved to Presque Isle a few years ago, by way of Ohio. In addition to being on the Board, Maryann is a member of the Presque Isle Chapter. As part of the Chapter, Maryann was involved with efforts to revitalize Peace Park in Presque Isle, by donating picnic tables for the community to enjoy.
Maryann is driven to do what she can to make sure that people with disabilities are treated with dignity and respect in their communities and have the same opportunities to lead full, active lives. “It’s important that people with disabilities stand up for who we are and show that not only are we a lot more capable than other people might think but our dreams and goals are just as important as anyone else’s!” Maryann not only spreads her messages among people with disabilities but recently, she represented SUFU at a state conference on disability issues within families.
Maryann loves to stay active. She’s played basketball, discovered a new love for bike riding, she volunteers at a local soup kitchen and one of her ultimate goals is to work with young children with disabilities in a daycare setting.
