Southern Area Conference

The Southern Maine area SUFU conference was held in Auburn on Sept. 22, 2006. The theme was ‘Going down the Road of Self Direction.’
I really liked meeting people and exchanging ideas, I learned about what was going on in self advocacy, and there was the opportunity for people to gain new skills.
The conference included a movie about self direction starring three self advocates, Heidi Seger, Amy Madsen, and Judy Diemer.
Workshops were presented on:
Friendship
Voting
Leadership
How to talk to other people about your disability
How to stay healthy, happy, and well, and
The Consumer Advisory Board.
The regional meetings were interesting, new board members were elected and Marcia Rosen award winners were selected.
The country western dance was an enjoyable ending to wind the day down.
