I am Kelly Baston, from Littleton ….
and I do a training called Kelly’s rules.
Jodi Benvie, an advocate with the Disability Rights Center, and I, tell you about your rights and how to speak up for yourself with staff, and other people. This training is about being treated with dignity and respect by staff.
In the training I tell staff that it is their job to support me to have the things I want in my life.
An example is if you want to do something and staff does not want you to do it, or it could be that you do not have enough money, they might not take you seriously and laugh it off. In the training I tell them it is their job to help me figure out how to get the money, or save the money to do it.
