2006 National Self-Advocacy ConferencePlane flying through clouds

The North Is...Going South
SABE Conference 2006

When: May 25-28, 2006 (Memorial Day Weekend)

Where: Atlanta Hilton, Atlanta, Georgia

What: National Self-Advocacy Conference, hosted by Southern Collaborative on Self-Determination, along with Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE).

The name of the conference is "We Had a Dream, Now We Have the Power". Atlanta is the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the stage of the civil rights movement in the 1960's. Atlanta was chosen because the National Self-Advocacy members are leaders in the fight for the civil rights of people with disabilities, just as Martin Luther King, Jr., was the leader in the civil rights movement.
