I live in Augusta I like to go to my favorite store to shop; Fashion Bug.
Three years ago SUFU was having their 10th anniversary conference, our advisor and I went to the Fashion Bug Store to see if they would let us use some of their evening gowns for our special event.
At that time they asked us if we would like to be in one of their fashion shows, to benefit the Augusta Bread of Life Soup Kitchen. The first time I was in the show with my advisor/friend I was very nervous.
Now I do them all on my own, I have made friends with the ladies that work at the store, they call me and ask me to be in the shows 2 or 3 times a year. I sign up every time they have one, by putting my name, address and telephone number on a sign up sheet so they can call me to come in to the store to pick out the out fit I want to wear for the show.
Saturday April 8, 2006 I was in a very different kind of fashion show. The other models were contestants in the Mrs. Maine International, Miss Maine International, Miss Teen Maine International, Miss Maine Pre-Teen International and Little Miss Maine International pageants.
I was excited I felt like a beauty queen myself in my new yellow Easter outfit (I just had to buy it!)
I would encourage others to find out what you want to do to be included in your community and go for it, don’t let anyone talk you out of it!
