SUFU will increase their membership by recruiting at least 50 new self advocates, ten self-advocacy groups and twenty-five non-voting members by offering membership at an annual membership drive, local groups, trainings, statewide meetings, conferences, and other events by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will form a committee to develop a policy manual to address issues such as use of funds, membership, and personnel (staff) policies. Needed policies will be in place by April 30, 2008.
SUFU will receive technical assistance (help) from DRC to evaluate SUFU staff at least every other year using the Advisor Evaluation designed by SUFU members. The first round of evaluations will be complete by January 31, 2008.
SUFU officers will be trained in organizational structure, 503(c)(3) compliance (rules and laws) and staff supervision on three occasions by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will provide information to community members, self-advocates and supporters through distribution at community and ally functions, agencies, schools, local groups, website, community newspapers, articles, and mailings on 25 occasions by September 30, 2008.
SUFU local groups will invite community groups to local meetings on at least 5 occasions to share opportunities and increase community involvement and hold at least 3 joint community events by September 30, 2008.
SUFU Advisors will provide technical assistance to at least 10 local groups and provide at least 3 regional or statewide Advisor/Supporter trainings by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will train at least fifteen self advocates to organize, facilitate, to set goals to promote leadership on the local level by June 30, 2008.
SUFU will develop a self-advocacy survey to assess interest and training needs to be completed by at least 12 local groups by Sept. 30, 2008.
At least one local group will invite a local legislator to attend a self-advocacy meeting so they can inform our representatives what is important to people with developmental disabilities by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will mail out letters and training brochures by January 30, 2008 to agencies and organizations to result in at least 6 training opportunities; at least 4 of them to be paid trainings by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will partner with allies to educate professionals such as First Responders and medical personnel on how to support people with disabilities on at least 3 occasions by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will do outreach and educate students on important issues to people with developmental disabilities on at least 4 occasions by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will provide emergency prep training to self-advocates on at least 10 occasions by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will write letters, make calls and testify at the legislature on bills affecting people with developmental disabilities at least 10 times by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will work with the DD Council to get at least 35 self-advocates and supporters to attend Advocacy Days and Disability Awareness Day at the State House by September 30, 2008.
SUFU will have a ‘seat at the table’ (be represented) on at least 5 committees or workgroups focusing on issues such as PCP, Guardianship, Rights and Quality of Services for people with developmental disabilities by September 30, 2008.
