July 1, 2005 - June 30, 2006

Goal One: To continue to build the self advocacy network at the local, regional, statewide, and national level.
Objective 1: SUFU will plan and host a self advocacy conference to provide opportunities for networking and training for at least 225 self advocates and supporters by October 31, 2005.
Objective 2: SUFU will promote networking and education through sharing of information about training opportunities and other events in at least three ways by March 31, 2005.
Objective 3: SUFU will provide technical assistance, support and trainings to self advocates and supporters interested in starting new local groups and existing local self advocacy groups in at least ten communities by June 30, 2006.
Objective 4: SUFU will support five self advocates and supporters to attend and or present at the national SABE (Self Advocates Becoming Empowered) Conference in Atlanta, Georgia through organizational and individual fundraising efforts, cost sharing, and scholarship availability information by March 31, 2006.
Objective 5: SUFU will host at lease four statewide or regional meetings to provide self advocates and supporters the opportunity to network, share ideas and information by June 30, 2006.
Objective 6: SUFU will promote growth of the self advocacy network through outreach, recruiting members, informative brochures, and current updates on the SUFU website.
Goal Two: To promote positive systems change for people with disabilities; by speaking out, letter writing, working with allies, testifying, voting, educating policy makers, etc.
Objective 1: SUFU will collaborate with at least four of our allies on projects that improve the lives of people with disabilities through ‘a seat at the table’ approach on councils, boards, and committees by June 30, 2006
Objective 2: SUFU will promote self advocates voices on at least 4 issues that affect people with disabilities through letter writing, emails, rallies, phone calls and meeting with people in key positions by June 30, 2006.
Objective 3: SUFU will educate policy makers and voters on at least five occasions by testifying letter writing, rallies, Advocacy Day participation, press conferences, voter education, voter registration, and voting by June 30, 2006
Objective 4: SUFU will work with our allies to help send at least ten people to the Alliance For Full Participation Summit in Washington DC by September 30, 2005.
Goal Three: To educate, train, and inform self advocates, supporters, community members, families and agencies using existing trainings and resources such as SUFU’s FYI series, PCP, Rights, and Community Inclusion.
Objective 1: SUFU will offer at least three trainings to increase self advocate’s public speaking and leadership skills by June 30, 2006.
Objective 2: SUFU will train/educate at least 10 audiences of self advocates, supporters, agencies, community members, family members, and youths to promote self advocacy and community inclusion by June 30, 2006.
Objective 3: SUFU will continue to build, maintain, and loan resource material through our libraries located in Presque Isle and Augusta to self advocates, supporters, agencies, and community members at no cost.
Objective 4: SUFU will publish and circulate two newsletters to members, allies, and by request to other interested parties. The target date for the first newsletter will be December 31, 2005; the second to be completed by June 30, 2006.
Goal Four: To maintain organizational stability and independence of Speaking Up For Us and conduct routine business.
Objective 1: SUFU, with the support of the Disability Rights Center (fiscal agent), will work to achieve greater independence by applying for 501(c)3 status by June 30, 2006.
Objective 2: SUFU officers will meet in person or by conference system to share information and conduct routine business at least 9 times by June 30, 2006.
Objective 3: SUFU Board of Directors will unite at least four times a year, two of which will be overnight retreats, to share information and address board issues by June 30, 2006
Objective 4: SUFU will provide routine written and/or verbal reports and updates to the Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS), Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) and the Disability Rights Center (DRC), as well as other interested parties at least four times in addition to quarterly reports, performance indicators, and satisfaction surveys submitted by SUFU staff.
Objective 5: SUFU will set criteria, identify resources, skills and supports needed to train and evaluate SUFU advisors by Dec 31, 2005. Evaluations will take place by June 30, 2006.
