The SUFU conference committee met on April 15th at the Dorothea Dix Center in Bangor. It has been decided that in order to make the conference accessible and affordable to the largest number of SUFU self-advocates, Speaking Up for Us will be hosting three regional events this year instead of the one statewide conference.
The three locations will most likely be Presque Isle, Bangor and the Lewiston area.
The planning committee for the southern Maine area will be on May 5, from 10:00 to 2:00 at the Auburn Public Library. Please contact Julie for more info about that meeting.
For those of you who would find it more convenient to go to Bangor, there will be a meeting held on May 5, from 11:30 to 4:30 at the Dorothea Dix Center. Please contact Irene for more info regarding that meeting.
Meeting information from Presque Isle is not yet available. We will post it here as soon as we have it.
The committees are looking for a few more members who are interested in working to make the regional events a success. We are also asking for people's ideas for a conference theme, workshops, and speakers.
